Adventures Among Spiritual Intelligences
Angels, Aliens, Dolphins, & Shamans
By Timothy Wyllie
Timothy Wyllie's Adventures Among Spiritual Intelligences is a literary memoir of uncommon range and depth authored by Timothy Wyllie--best known as coauthor of Ask Your Angels
(Ballantine: 1992), one of the best-selling "angel books" ever
published. Wyllie has long been considered a pioneer in "interspecies"
communication, pursuing this endeavor not as a mere scientist
might--but as a spiritual, philosophic, literary, and humanistic
discipline that improves the soul and directly serves planetary
evolution. A product of English boarding schools, a successful
businessman, a trained architect as well as an accomplished artist both
with word and image, Wyllie is one of the few writers in the world
about whom the one can use in the same sentence the words "literary,"
"fine arts," "adventure," and "cosmic."
The overriding message in his books and workshops over the last 20
years might be boiled down to this: All those with more than a passing
interest in nonhuman intelligences are encouraged to learn more about
our closest species neighbors--and in fact to develop deeply personal
relationships with them, be they angels, animals of high intelligence,
or even extraterrestrials. AASI depicts Wyllie doing just that in an
extraordinary series of serendipitous adventures around the world
during a period in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Fascinating and spiritually edifying in itself, cultivating these
sorts of "extracurricular" relationships will also go a long way, he
maintains, toward helping us prepare as a species--as the human
collective--for even deeper encounters with these intelligences. It is
such extrahuman visitations that Wyllie (and now so many others who
have followed him) believe are now becoming almost rampant, and will be
occurring with increasing frequency over the next few years. Through
these unique liaisons "we will move irrevocably," as Wyllie writes in
the preface to AASI, "toward a reunion with our cosmic family--the
overcoming of the planetary quarantine we have been under for untold
ages."
Wyllie's account of the myriad adventures that led him to this
prophetic conclusion were first set down in the first book of this
series. The acclaimed Dolphins, ETs & Angels (Bear &
Co: 1984), now considered a classic (and available now from Inner
Traditions/Bear & Co.) is the prequel to the present book. AASI
picks up where this first book left off, but with an intervening span
of about four years. First published by Bear & Co, AASI is an
updated version of the original that was printed in 1992 under the
title Dolphins, Telepathy, and Underwater Birthing.
And how, you might ask, did all this slightly off-beat concern for
spiritual intelligences begin? A near death experience he had in 1973
originally introduced Wyllie to the angels during a period when he was
a businessman living in New York City--although he had pushed it aside
by the time they showed up again in his life seven years later. Another
encounter with a very advanced medium in the early 1980s convinced him
to teach himself how to talk to his own celestial companions. He
explains that "it took two and a half years of concentrated attention,
constant journaling and learning how to truly quiet myself inside to
become confident that I was in contact." As you will see from the
encounters described here, his appreciation for the angels has evolved
from "the naive bewilderment of the first book to what I have now come
to understand as a full working relationship."
Through the eighties and early nineties he found himself working with Alma Daniel (with whom he coauthored Ask Your Angels)
and others, giving workshops and seminars on the subject of angels long
before it became a New Age fad. In those years he pioneered in helping
people to make contact with their companion (guardian) angels, which,
he writes "showed me that with an open mind and a trusting heart
virtually everybody is able to accomplish it. As the angels themselves
tell us, it is our birthright to be in contact with them."
But just as much as angels, Wyllie's personal adventure into the
subtle realms of the interspecies consciousness and communications was
also led by the dolphins--perhaps even more so. Very extensive direct
experience with dolphins has demonstrated to him that their
intelligence, "though very different from ours, is certainly comparable
and quite possibly a great deal more profound."
AASI contains stories from Wyllie's vast repertoire of encounters
with spiritual intelligences. What impresses one from start to finish
of this book, writes one reviewer of his work, "is the genuine, warm
and 'giving' nature of the author. From the picture on the back cover,
he looks just like an angel 'in human disguise.'"
Timothy Wyllie is the acclaimed author of Dolphins, Extraterrestrials, and Angels (Bear & Co: 1984), widely regarded as a classic in its field. He is also co-author of the international best-selling Ask Your Angels
(Ballantine: 1992), a practical guide to working with your angels that
has been translated into eleven languages. Wyllie was born in England
during WWII and trained as an architect. Since 1981 he has devoted
himself to his lifelong interest in spiritual intelligences.
